Users can instantly share their notebooks with other NoteShare users for presenting, viewing and editing information. NoteShare can be used in the same room, same building and globally for connecting anytime, anywhere. Sharing means that the information in a shared notebook can be viewed, edited and modified by other NoteShare users. Any NoteShare user can share a notebook from their own personal computer and allow other NoteShare users to access, view and edit it. With NoteShare, you don't need to use a third party hosting service or server, just two or more users to start sharing and working on the same notebook. NoteShare is an ideal collaboration tool for users who work on team projects or have a need to share notebook information with one or more users in a small group or classroom. NoteShare serves a growing, dynamic community of users including students, educators, researchers, scientists, doctors, designers, authors, directors, producers, consultants and many other creative fields. NoteShare allows multiple users to work on a single shared, interactive notebook from the same room, same building or even from a remote location via the Internet or a network gateway. NoteShare enables home and small office users to work on their notebooks remotely while away or in a different location than from where the notebooks are being shared. Presenting, viewing and editing a shared notebook can be done on-demand as needed. Any NoteShare user can view other shared notebooks as well as share their own notebooks. What's new in this version: New Features * Common code base for NoteShare and NoteTaker * NoteShare and NoteTaker are now built on the same code base. Releases for both products will now be synchronized and incorporate shared features and fixes as they are added. * Industrial-strength Encryption * By setting a regular password for a notebook, using the "Password..." menu item in the File menu, you can ensure that all the textual content in your notebook is encrypted using 128-bit AES encryption whenever the notebook is saved. * Copies of notebooks created using Save As or Save To also have their textual content encrypted using the source notebook's current password. * Compressed notebooks (.ntz files) created using the "Save To..." or "Email>Notebook..." menu items, and Page Folios, are encrypted as a whole, including all embedded (internal) attachments, using the source notebook's current password. * If you are already using passwords, encryption will begin the next time the notebook is saved. * Encryption can be removed by clearing the password using the "Password..." menu item in the File menu, then saving the notebook. * Please Note: * Encrypted notebooks and page folios cannot be opened with versions of NoteShare less than 1.6 or NoteTaker less than 2.0. If you need to keep your notebooks compatible with earlier versions, do not set a password, or temporarily clear the password before making a copy using Save To. * Password encryption is not necessary for secure sharing of notebooks. Secure sharing is enabled by supplying a password on the Share Notebook panel, or sharing in a private Space. * Attachment files are not encrypted in regular notebooks (.ntx files), only compressed ones (.ntz files and Page Folios). * Enhancements * Major Improvements to Web Notebooks⢠* Web Notebooks now have a more efficient structure with increased use of static style sheets and decreased use of JavaScript * Web Notebooks now automatically optimize their format for the iPhone. Zooming is not needed, and pages format according to the current vertical or horizontal position of the phone. Image attachments automatically scale to the screen width. * All cover and page background image styles are now supported, including Cover, Fit Width, and Scale. * Text index page links now navigate to and highlight the indexed text. * Web Notebooks may now be automatically updated in an optimized fashion with every save of the source notebook. This is controlled by a new switch on the Create Web Notebook... panel. Index page titles are now fully editable on the Contents page, Index section page, and individual index pages. * Minor fixes and improvements to applet plug-in handling. * Known Issues * There is as yet no way for a remote viewer of a shared notebook to create a template that can be shared to other viewers. The notebook's owner must create any templates to be shared, on the owner's computer. * The Adobe browser plug-in cannot be used to display PDF attachments in NoteShare. If the Adobe browser plug-in is enabled in the Adobe Reader or Acrobat preferences, then the PDF plug-in feature in NoteShare is disabled. * Encrypted notebooks cannot yet be opened as static notebooks using NoteShare Express.
